Webster has been supplying burners using digester gas for over 30 years and has hundreds of burners currently operating.  Because of the limited and variable supply of digester gas, normal operation would be to combine digester with natural gas, either by burning the two gases together or by switching from one gas to the other controlled by the supply of digester gas.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

Webster’s HDS burner (200 to 1500HP) is well suited to fire into firetube boilers using digester gas.  Click here for more information on the HDS burner.

HDS(X) BURNER

Webster’s HDRV burner (12.6 to 40.3 MMBTU/HR) is designed for watertube applications.  Click here for more information on the HDRV burner.

Because of the lower BTU content of digester gas, a larger supply pipe is used.   The gas train is fabricated from stainless steel to withstand the corrosive nature of digester gas, giving the burner longer life.  The burner can be controlled by mechanical linkage or actuators through a parallel positioning system (linkageless). The JB Series Burners range in size from 10 to 400 BHP.

TYPICAL GAS TRAIN

Webster can supply a pre-piped and pre-wired gas train specifically designed for digester gas.  Stainless steel piping and corrosive resistant seals hold up to the H2S present in the digester gas.

To design a system for you, above the normal information for selecting a burner, we need to know the digester gas supply pressure and BTU content, the H2S ppm and the control scenario.  Contact the local Webster Representative for further information.

Digester gas is a source of free energy that can greatly reduce operating costs for wastewater treatment facilities, landfills or stockyards. As the cost of natural gas and other fuel alternatives continues to soar more facilities are reviewing their strategies for handling digester gas. Simply wasting this sometimes troublesome energy source is no longer an option. In the last year alone, the number of upgrades and retrofits to existing anaerobic digestion equipment and processes has climbed drastically.
